Quick and Dirty

My blogging mojo is being stubborn right now. And? I’ve got a few projects that need to be finished and in the mail before the end of the month. And? I need to be at work in a half hour. So this will be quick.
My brother’s site is up. Go over to stickman stories and welcome him to the innernets. Don’t forget to tell him if you voted for him. He just got back from vacation so it might be a little while before he posts again because I am sure that he’s buried at work.
I went to a really fun knitting lunch over at La’s. There will be photos and stories soon.
In the meantime, has anyone charted lace on their computer? I downloaded the knitting fonts and am trying to make them look pretty in MS Word, but the symbols are behaving badly in the graph table (meaning they won’t center). I want to chart Elfine’s before I knit it again.
Carry on people. That is all.
it just so happens that i stumbled across this: http://fleeglesblog.blogspot.com/ the other week. scroll down a bit to the post before the latest. try reading it & see if it gives you any pointers
Try Excel instead of word. And remember, only a few more weeks until wrap.
I’m not a Word/Excel genius, but given a few hours, I can get things to center in their boxes. It usually does take me longer than it’s supposed to, and that makes me sad.
I only have Word Perfect here, so I can’t help.
Oh, and I’ve got Michael on my Google Reader. Already commented!
If you have access to Excel, I vote for that as well. Word always makes me cuss trying to get it exactly how I want it, and then it blows up and crashes anyway. Yes, I am SO objective.
I just tried downloading the Aire River Designs knitting fonts (from that Fleegle’s Blog entry that Anastasia provided). I can get them to center in a Word table (plain old “insert table” table) by right-clicking the table, going down to Cell Alignment, then choosing the center option in the top row or middle row. For some reason these options aren’t showing up on the table menu - just vertical alignment, not horizontal (thanks, MS Word, for being SO CONSISTENT.)
I didn’t try the Xenakis fonts or any others, though.
