TO: The Fine Publishers of Knitting Books

FR: Me

Re: Book sizes

So publishers, I’m moving. And right now I am trying to pack all 67 of my knitting books into manageable-by-weight boxes. The problem is no knitting books are all the same size. (no book at all is the same size as another book, but right now I’m packing knitting books, which is why you are singled out. It’s not personal, really)

Trying to fit these books into the boxes is like trying to squeeze me into a pair of jeans from 15 years ago, it’ll happen but not without a lot of pain, suffering, and imaginative cursing. I think two, maybe three, sizes for knitting books is ideal. They fit in boxes together nicely, they fit into shelves perfectly together. I can only imagine that price-wise for publishing it would be a win-win situation for everyone involved. So could you get on that soon? Thanks.

Also, when they invent technology that will warn the purchaser of knitting books that she ALREADY HAS that same book at home could you go right ahead and put that into the book as well? I know it might not be in your best interest to dissuade me from buying a book, but my habit of doubling up on books is a little out of control. I promise I’ll buy new books. Buying a book I already have is keeping from doing just that, buying NEW books.

Thanks!

Love,

Me.

Poor Wen, moving sucks! Maybe we should set up a “duplicate book exchange” :)

I haven’t bought a knitting book yet but I have a knitting magazine! Yeah, I’m such a noob.

I hate moving, too! I feel for you, I really do; I’m packing up my sewing room and putting it into storage. (I’ve been at it for _over a year_ and I’m still at it.)

Good luck! Hope it’s all over soon!

I’m packing my knitting books tonight. Actually I just finished before I took this bloglines break. ;) They *are* all different sizes! At least some of my non-knitting books are the same size, not one of my knitting book matches the size of any other knitting book!

But the key questions is have you overloaded any of the book boxes yet? I packed some that where so heavy we couldn’t lift them and had to completely unpack and repack them.

I haven’t duplicated any of my knitting books, but I do this all the time with my fiction.

If it’s good enough to by once, it’s great enough to buy twice! I hate it when I do that.
I hate moving more, though. BLEH. Hope it’s over soon for you.

No kidding! I don’t have a lot of knitting books, so I thought it was just me when I packed up my crap last year, but when I remembered the knitting book section at Borders it seemed like I had a pretty representative cross-section of the genre.

I still haven’t unpacked more than half the stuff we moved up here. That irks me.

    Good luck with your packing!
