Busted

A lonely sock lies on an empty chair. THE BOY is reading the newspaper next to the lonely sock. THE BOY looks up from the newspaper to catch THE GIRL as she casts a sidelong glance at the sock as she walks through the room…

THE BOY (slightly incredulous)

Did you just? I can’t believe you just did that!

THE GIRL (stopping in her tracks)

Did what? What are you talking about?

THE BOY (laughing now)

Did you just walk by the chair and gave the sock a dirty look?

THE GIRL

I… What? NO! (off the boy’s look) Well. Um…

THE BOY

You TOTALLY just gave A SOCK a dirty look, didn’t you?

THE GIRL (slightly indignant)

Hmmph! Maybe I did!

THE BOY (laughing again)

First you curse the sock with language that would make a trucker blush, then you give it a dirty look as you walk by it. You kill me.

THE GIRL (not caring that she sounds completely whacked)

It’s been a VERY VERY BAD SOCK! It’s making me insane! It needs to be punished!

THE BOY (patting the crazy girl’s arm)

I’m sure it has honey. And I’m sure you taught it a very valuable lesson…

    Hey, I’ve been known to give the middle finger to my knitting! How dare it just sit there all screwed up? Dirty looks are for swatches. Projects call for something sterner in my house.

    HAHA! The sock knows what it did. Tell the Boy not to worry his pretty head about it, because it’s going to get ugly for the sock and he doesn’t need to concern himself with the last hours of the walking dead.
