Short Words, No Pictures
October 30th, 2007 by Wen
Just to prove that the blog isn’t broken, or that I’m not broken, I thought I’d write something. I know, novel idea and all… Sorry though, no time for photos.
I went and dyed some yarn up with La a few weeks back. It was fun, and possibly addictive and I might have bought some more yarn blanks to try out other stuff. I did not, however, buy any dye. Instead I bought a color card to see the colors I liked.
I went back to work on this show, and though I knew that it would be a lot harder than last year I had no idea that it would THIS hard. It’s still fun though, and that’s what counts. I may be unemployed very soon (maybe as early as Thursday), as the writers strike looms large. There’s nothing we can do about what happens except to keep working and making some dough until the scripts run out or we are confronted with a picket line as we go into work.
To celebrate the possible strike the boy and I are going to Vegas this weekend. Since the possibility of unemployment is pretty good, you will find me at the nickel slots rather than the dollar wheel of fortune bank at (insert any casino name here). I don’t know where we are staying, the boy has planned it all and it’s a secret until we get there. I like this idea.
There has been knitting here (and really I will do photos soon) I finished the cashmere slippers that I started for my boss in March. I finished the first at that time, and finished the second one a few days ago. and then measured them and found that the new one is an inch longer in the ankle than the first one. Luckily I had enough yarn left to cast on and knit another inch. I just have to graft it to the old one. I’m not sure how it’s going to turn out, but at this point I really don’t care.
I finished a dish rag for our reverse swap and that needs to go in the mail. I always forget that dishrags are kind of fun. Hopefully I won’t get boned in this part of the swap…
I did start work on a shawl for my mom with the malabrigo laceweight. It’s the Twinings stole by Ann at Knitspot. I really started to like this pattern when I finally figured out how to read a chart from left to right AND right to left. Shut up. You know you made that mistake the frist time too. Anyway I had planned to knit one repeat a day, but that went south and so far I’m on the third repeat. I started it about 4 weeks ago. You do the math.
Gotta run for work. Hopefully photos soon.
Glad you’re still alive and kicking. Just yesterday I was all, hmmmm, I wonder how Wen’s doing.
I think I’ll be organizing a “small” ASK gathering either at the end of this month, or the beginning of next. Fingers crossed for further employment, and hope this strike ends sooner than later
Have fun in Vegas. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that you are only unemployed because you WANT to be, otherwise I hope you get lots of work. Did the fires get close to you at all? I’m getting back into knitting now that all the sports stuff have ended. I had no idea I could not knit if I had too much going on! I still haven’t gotten the hang of socks though. Maybe soon I’ll get it.
Congratulations on a well-earned vacation! I hope you have a lot of fun, and don’t get married unless you mean to.
I’ve spent a lot of time wondering what show you are working on (at least for now, I don’t have my thumb on the pulse of America’s Entertainment Industry or anything so I am Uninformed). But hey, Vegas sounds like fun in the meantime.
Good luck with the impending possible(?) strike, in the meantime, enjoy Vegas!
I wish we were taking the potential strike as well as you are. A lot has changed for us since the last WGA strike, so hopefully it won’t hit us as hard this time, but I really have my fingers crossed for no unplanned vacations. I’m going to make sacrifices to the employment gods tonight, as well.
Viva Las Vegas, baby! Have a grand time at those nickle slots. They’re totally worth it; I once won $15 from one at the Holiday Inn in Reno.
Fingers crossed about the strike, too.
Happy Halloween!
Good to hear from you, but I’m sorry about the looming possible unemployment. bleh.
Good luck and I hope you have a fun Vegas weekend.
Knit 1, pearl 2…
I’m jealous, I wish I was fabulous and talented… Oh wait, I am! It’s just that the only thing I can make with my hands is a mess. Cheers! Oh and knit me a sweater wouldja? It’s cold out here in the East.
